Seamless slip-resistant floor with drain in a food plant sanitation room

Food & Beverage Processing Flooring

Food and beverage plant floors built for hot washdown, thermal shock and harsh sanitizers, detailed at drains and walls where most floors fail.

What Is the Best Flooring for Food Processing?

Processing floors take hot oil, cold ingredients, heavy carts and aggressive cleaning, sometimes in the same shift. Standard epoxy often cracks or peels under those temperature swings. Urethane cement is the go-to for wet production because it handles hot water and thermal shock (fast changes from hot to cold) far better.

The details matter as much as the floor. We pay close attention to drains, slope, equipment bases and wall transitions, because that is where water gets trapped and floors start to fail. Work is phased around production and sanitation so the plant keeps running.

FAQ

Food & Beverage Processing Flooring Questions

How much does food plant flooring cost?

Urethane cement, the usual choice for washdown and hot areas, typically runs about $21 per square foot, with integral cove base about $15 per linear foot. Drier areas can use epoxy at about $3.50 to $10 per square foot depending on size.

Why urethane cement instead of epoxy?

Urethane cement handles hot water, steam cleaning and cold slabs without cracking or losing its bond, which is where standard epoxy tends to fail. We still use epoxy in dry packaging and storage areas where it is the better value.

Can you fix water pooling on the floor?

Yes. We can rebuild slope toward the drains and repair broken drain edges before the finish goes down. Fixing slope and drain details is often what finally stops repeat failures in a washdown room.

Can the plant keep running during the install?

We phase the work room by room and line by line, coordinate with your sanitation and quality teams, and use night and weekend crews. Each area goes back into service once it has cured for its duty.
